It’s not just the pride, but plenty at stake for Sri Lanka in the ODI series against India. The Lankan Lions need to win atleast a couple of matches against the Indians to book a direct place in the 2019 World Cup.
Only the top-7 sides, alongwith hosts England will get a direct entry into the tournament. The remaining teams will have to battle it out in the qualifying rounds. Sri Lanka, meanwhile, is targeting a direct entry in the World Cup.

They are currently placed eighth in the latest ICC ODI team rankings with 88 rating points. And two wins over India will seal their spot in the marquee event before the September 30 cut-off date.
However, Sri Lanka’s recent form at home is not encouraging. They recently lost to Zimbabwe in the ODI series, and then by the Indians in the Tests. The Lankans, however, defeated India recently in the Champions Trophy.
