Motera stadium, also known as Sardar Patel Stadium is set to be the world’s largest cricket stadium accommodating over 110,000 (1.1 Lakh) cricket fans. It includes 76 corporate boxes, 4 team dressing rooms and facilities, state-of-the-art club facilities with three practice grounds, an indoor cricket academy and an Olympic-size swimming pool.
The stadium has been witness to some iconic moments in Indian Cricket’s history; in 1983, Kapil Dev took 9 wickets in a single innings and in 1987 Sunil Gavaskar became the first cricketer to score 10,000 runs in Test Cricket.
On 24th February 2020, the US President, Donald Trump addressed thousands of people at the ‘Namaste Trump’ event held at the Motera stadium. Donald Trump also spoke about the love affair between India and cricket and in particular about 2 of the best cricketers India has produced: Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar.
