The Indian Women’s cricket team held their nerve to defeat New Zealand and entered the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, 2020. Group A, table toppers India won their 3rd match in a row in the process.
After being put in to bat, India scored 133 for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Their batting effort was led by the teen prodigy Shafali Verma, who once again gave a blistering start to the Indian innings by top-scoring with 46(34).
In reply, New Zealand gave a tough fight and needed 16 runs to win in the last over; could only score 12 and lost the match by 3 runs. The last over duties were handed over to the experienced Shikha Pandey who didn’t disappoint.
