On Tuesday morning when all the news channels were going berserk about the story on BCCI accusing the Lodha panel of freezing its bank accounts, everyone in the Indian team had only one question – will India continue to host the New Zealand, and if there was any doubt over the future matches.

A few of the members of the team was so anxious that they even called the ones in high places. There was no change in the schedule and the players were supposed to leave for Nagpur next day.

Still a few of the cricketers couldn’t believe that the face-off between BCCI and Lodha committee could take such an ugly turn as much as it did. There were allegation and counter allegation – something isn’t cricket.

Fortunately, the team left Kolkata, reached Indore in no time. They were also relieved to see that the spin-shy New Zealand team would be playing the last match of the three-match Test series on a turning track – much to the liking of the team management.

The team is also not asking for a rank turner for the Test match. But, a Kanpur type wicket would certainly help a team like India, which is in sight to make a whitewash.

Of course, this is Indore’s first Test and, more importantly, the first Indian Test captain CK Naidu is also from this city. Therefore, historically the third game is indeed an important one.

Then, the question of India team not play a Test match in Indore doesn’t arise? As Virat Kohli and his team regroup for one last time, this is also a good opportunity for New Zealand’s to improve their reputation.

Can they pull it off? Wait till the game kicks off from Saturday onwards!
