The Indian team has faced yet another injury blow ahead of the 3rd Test. Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been sidelined owing to a back strain, which he sustained during the Kolkata Test.
This is the third injury that the Indian team has faced in the ongoing series. KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan are already out of the series, and the injury of Bhuvi has come as another blow for the Indian team.

Meanwhile, the Indian Cricket Board has named Shardul Thakur for the 3rd Test. Thakur is yet to make his India debut.
The BCCI said in a statement, “The All-India Senior Selection Committee have named medium pacer Shardul Thakur as the replacement for injured pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the Indian Team.”

“Kumar has been ruled out of the third Test of the Paytm Test series against New Zealand. He sustained a back strain in the second Test at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.”
The Indian team, meanwhile, has already sealed the three-match Test series. They won the first two games in Kanpur and Kolkata convincingly. The last game of the series will take place in Indore.
