Shikhar Dhawan has made the most of the opportunities that have came his way lately. The southpaw has continued his run-making spree and scored a magnificent hundred against Sri Lanka in Galle.

Dhawan replaced KL Rahul, who is down with flu, in the playing XI. He grabbed the opportunity with both hands and struck his 5th Test century. Dhawan found the place in the squad after Murali Vijay failed to prove his fitness.

The Delhi-born has a rough 2016. He was dropped from all three squad. But, the stylish left-hander made a comeback in the Champions Trophy, and since then there is no turning back for the southpaw.

Dhawan struck form in the Indian Premier League for Hyderabad Sunrisers. He later emerged as India’s leading run-scorer in the Champions Trophy, and now he has started the Sri Lanka tour with a bang.

The Indian team, meanwhile, made a solid start in the 1st Test. They, however, lost opener Abhinav Mukund (12) cheaply. But, Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara made a solid stand for the second wicket to put India in control.
