The problem against the red cherry, which started against England in 2014, for Virat Kohli hasn’t yet rectified, as the Indian Test captain has failed to score runs like he used to for the Indian team.

Recently against South Africa, Kohli again failed to contribute with the bat, and could only manage to score a half-century at his home ground, Feroz Shah Kotla.

Kohli might have led Team India to back-to-back Test series wins against Sri Lanka and South Africa, but his form with the bat has been a much-talked topic lately.

Former India captain Gundappa Viswanath has pointed out that Kohli needs to cut down his strokes and try to spend more time in the middle to know the conditions.

He also stressed that the Indian Test skipper has flaws in his batting technique, and he is required to make some adjustments, which will take time.

“Virat needs to learn to stay at the wicket in Tests,” Viswanath said. “He has strokes all around and sometimes he plays one too many. He gets out the same way too many times. He must avoid that.”

“It requires major adjustment,” he added. “But to start with, instead of playing towards cover and cover point he should play straight and to mid-off. And instead of following the ball, he should let it go.”

India aren’t playing much Test matches in a next few months, as the team would be playing limited-overs series against Australia, followed by the Asia Cup and the World T20.
