Australia have announced their 13-member squad for the five-match ODI series, starting January 12, against India, with uncapped pacer Joel Paris and Scott Boland have been included in the squad.

Paris had an impressive outing in Australia’s domestic circuit last season, while Boland was a standout performer for Victoria in the Sheffield Shield and List A matches.

“Scott has continued to impress the selection panel, having bowled very well for Victoria this year,” national selector Rod Marsh said. “He certainly deserves this chance at the top level.”

“Joel is an exciting young left-arm bowler who swings the ball well and has bowled beautifully in the Big Bash League for the Perth Scorchers.”

“He has had very good figures in short-form cricket and we really want him to make the most of this opportunity,”Marsh concluded.

Interestingly, Australia have not included any specialist spinner in the squad as the first three one-dayers are expected to be played on pacer-friendly wickets.

Australia might be using Glenn Maxwell as a spin option in the series, while skipper Steve Smith could also come handy with his leg spinners.

Meanwhile, Australia would be missing out on the experience of Shane Watson, who has been snubbed for the series, while Nathan Lyon has also failed to make the cut.
