Team India should have played the Test series before playing the T20 and ODI series against South Africa. According to the BCCI sources, a discussion to that effect took place between the Indian team management and the board recently.

Sources confirmed that Team India would prefer to play a bilateral Test series first from next years onward before playing the shorter versions of the game.

“If India would have played and won South Africa in a Test series first, it would have helped them to do well in the later stages of the series,” a source close to the development told Drcricket7 on Monday.

It was then revealed that from next year onward, the BCCI might replicate the schedule followed by other big Test playing nations. That is to play the Test series before the ODIs and T20s.

“If you see in countries like England and Australia, the Test series are played first before the ODI tournaments. In India too, this format could be followed in future,” the source indicated.

Already, the India team has come under the scanner for preparing rank turners for the four-Test series against South Africa. With one Test match still to be played in Delhi, the hosts have pocketed the series and two-up in the series.
