When Ravindra Jadeja was dropped from Team India, he took a break, a complete one, and staying away from the field helped him immensely, as he made a stunning comeback into the Test team.
Ravindra Jadeja earned his place back into the team, after his incredible run of form, with both bat and ball, for Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy.
His 38 wickets, and three half-centuries on challenging batting conditions were enough to grab attention of the selectors and Ravindra Jadeja was drafted into Team India for the South Africa Test series.
The Rajkot-born carried his Ranji Trophy form into the Test series, and turned out to be South Africa’s nemesis in the first Test, and ripped through the Proteas batting to earn man of the match.
Ravindra Jadeja continued his fine run of form in the following matches, and ensured India seal the series in Nagpur, while also assisting Ravichandran Ashwin in the process.
“Jadeja is someone who depends on his accuracy,” Bharat Arun insisted. “He is spot on and attacks the stumps. He also has an uncanny knack of bowling straight on a wicket that offers turn.”
“This makes him extremely potent and all the more difficult to counter. Yes, most of the wickets he has got in this series are off straighter ones.”
“He would get one to turn and the one that goes straight, comes in to the right-hander,” he concluded. “So the batsman doesn’t know which one is going to come into him and which one is going to leave him.”
While ripping through South Africa batting, Ravindra Jadeja also played a couple of fine innings, first in the Mohali Test, and then in the Nagpur Test, to bail his team out.
