Indian Cricket Team to Miss MS Dhoni’s Allround Skills in Tests

MS Dhoni

He is almost 35 but India’s limited-overs captain MS Dhoni is still the sharpest behind the stumps and arguably the best finishers in world cricket.

That is why he is still in demand, and nearly after one-and-half years, a section in the Indian Cricket Team feels that Dhoni shouldn’t have retired at all from Test cricket at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2014.

“As we can see he is the best in the country and there isn’t any justification to see him not play for India in Test matches,” a team insider told Drcricket7. “He is extremely capable of playing Test cricket. He shouldn’t have hanged his boots then.”

India, which is scheduled to play more than 15 Test matches in next one year or so, will miss Dhoni for his all-round abilities.

“It’s a great loss for the fans, who will miss him so much in these phases,” the source explained. “Look at the way he runs between the wicket and bats in the middle-order. He is terrific. If he didn’t want to captain the Test side, he could continued as a player.”

Dhoni had retired from Test cricket with an intention of prolonging his career in ODIs and T20 cricket. He had led India to the semifinals of 2015 World Cup, and then to the semis of World T20 at home.

“It’s a good time also for him to take rest and stay fresh for India’s challenges in shorter and shortest formats,” another source added. “He isn’t someone who plays cricket for the sake of playing. He still play the game because he knows he can contribute with his skills.”
