Virat Kohli – A Statistician’s Delight

No words can describe Virat Kohli’s batting form. In terms of scoring runs, he is even on a higher pedestrian. His four consecutive double hundreds in four back-to-back series makes him the first batsman to do so.

Kohli has surpassed the likes of Don Bradman and Rahul Dravid, who had accomplished the feat in three consecutive series. In other words, Kohli’s 204 against Bangladesh in Hyderabad wasn’t something, which wasn’t on the cards.

The writing was on the wall on Day 1 itself when TV commentators had predicted another milestone from Kohli’s bat. Eventually, it happened on the expected lines. Who can forget his 200 in the West Indies?

Even the knock of 211 over New Zealand was a great one while 235 against the England bowlers was a superlative effort. By scoring four consecutive centuries, Kohli also got closer to the elite club of double centurions from India.

In a way, Kohli has become a statistician’s delight after every international game. As captain of the team, Kohli is only one notch lower than Brian Lara, who has five double hundred.

Otherwise, the Delhi dasher is right now at par with Bradman, Michael Clarke and Graeme Smith with four double hundred each as a captain. Surely, he will very soon surpass Lara when India plays Australia in the next Test series.
