West Indies might have showed glimpses of brilliance against Pakistan in their last game, but they are getting ready for a stern test against Zimbabwe, which would be hoping this as their best chance of causing an upset at the Manuka Oval.

“I think it’s going to be really important to start off well, both with our batting and our bowling, because I think their top order is very dangerous,” Zimbabwe’s Hamilton Masakadza said. “We mustn’t let them get away from us too quickly.”

“Similarly, the batting. Pakistan were four down early, and you can’t really recover from a position like that. We just have to make sure that we start early, both with bat and with ball.”

West Indies, despite getting their mojo back in the last game, have plenty to worry for the Zimbabwe game. Darren Bravo is out injured, while Chris Gayle is not in the best of touches and the Caribbean outfit would be hoping to fire with all guns blazing.

“Any team would love having Chris Gayle going guns blazing at the top,” Holder said. “Obviously, yet he hasn’t, but we still have full confidence in him. It’s very good to see that he still hasn’t fired and we’re still getting 300 runs. I guess when his contribution comes, we’ll get somewhere close to 400.”

Windies cannot afford to take Zimbabwe lightly, they have players like Masakadza, Brendon Taylor, Sikandar Raza and Sean Williams. They have scored runs quite consistently in the past few games and have spent some valuable time on the crease.

West Indies (possible): Dwayne Smith, Chris Gayle, Jonathan Carter, Marlon Samuels, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Lendl Simmons, Darren Sammy, Andre Russell, Jason Holder (c), Jerome Taylor and Sulieman Benn.

Zimbabwe (possible): Sikandar Raza, Chamu Chibhabha, Hamilton Masakadza, Brendan Taylor (wk), Sean Williams, Craig Ervine, Solomon Mire, Elton Chigumbura (c), Tinashe Panyangara, Tendai Chatara and Tafadzwa Kamungozi.
