Stunning performance from Mumbai Indians takes them to IPL 2015 final

Who would have thought that the Mumbai Indians would reach the finals of the IPL 2015, when they made a torrid start to their campaign. But, like a phoenix, they raised from the ashes to stun everyone in the competition.

Backed by home-support, the Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians booked place in the final of the IPL 2015, beating the Chennai Super Kings by 25 runs at the Wankhede Stadium.

The Super Kings, however, will get another bite of the cheery, when they will face the winner between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Rajasthan Royals on Friday, to reach the final in the second qualifier.

Mumbai dominated the game right from the word go, when opener Lendl Simmons and Parthiv Patel provided them a breezing start, and they posted 187 runs on the board.

The blue brigade fell some 15-20 runs shorts on the board, as the Super Kings managed to pull back things in the middle overs, by picking quick wickets.

Kieron Pollard played instrumental role in taking the Mumbai Indians to a par total by playing a blinder at the end, but the Super Kings also provide some lose deliveries and extras.

Chasing 188 was always going to be tough and it happened exactly like that. The Super Kings could only manage to score 162, and were beaten comprehensively by the Mumbai Indians.

The Super Kings kept losing wickets at regular intervals, and despite fighting knock from Faf du Plessis couldn’t seal the spot in the final.
