Practice Match Live Scores: India finish on top in second practice match against Australia

Ishant

Team India bowlers, led by pacer Ishant Sharma, again stared in the practice match against Cricket Australia XI by picking five wickets in just 21 overs on the second day at Glenelg on Friday.

Ishant was the pick of the bowlers and struck twice inside two overs to make up for the lost practice in the first match by dismissing Short for 26 and then sending Keath for a golden duck.

The lanky pacer might be grabbing all the headlines but leg-spinner Karn Sharma made most of the opportunities he got in the warm-up fixture and picked four wickets in the match.

Karn took three wickets in the first innings and chipped in with one more in the second innings. The leggie bowled with better control and teased the Australian with his googlies and spinners.

Speedster Varun Aaron was again on target and trapped Carters lbw on his first ball for a duck, while fellow seamer Umesh Yadav also plumbed Ashton Turner (12) early in the innings.

Earlier, Indians got decent batting practice, with skipper Virat Kohli (66) and Ajinkya Rahane (56) making fine fifties to keep their good form going in the Australia soil.

Murali Vijay, who remained unbeaten overnight, also played well and made a 136-ball 60, while wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha (51) also got some decent batting practice.
