Indian Cricket Team Should Have Scored Briskly in Jamaica?

Wriddhiman Saha Batting

Test cricket batting isn’t about blocking the ball anymore. It’s about scoring runs and that too at a faster rate -something which India’s Cheteshwar Pujara couldn’t do in the 2nd Test.

Pujara batted for 223 minutes, took 159 balls to score a hard-fought 46 before getting run-out. Perhaps, Pujara’s knock slowed down things for the Indian Cricket Team.

Eventually, India did score a 500-run in the first innings at the loss of nine wickets. Some batsmen like Wriddhiman Saha, too, didn’t play as freely as it was expected.

Rain also played a spoilsport in few of the sessions, which put a lot of pressure on Indian bowlers.

Effectively, the West Indies came back quite strong with the bat in the second innings after getting dismissed cheaply in the first. It was more of a will to fight that enabled them to stand tall in front of the Indian bowlers.

But it has certainly raised a question about how the Indian Cricket Team batters could have scored those runs. A few more over could have changed the course of the match. Who knows?
