West Indies have announced their squad for the upcoming four-match Test series against India. Denesh Ramdin, Kemar Roach and Jerome Taylor have failed to make the cut, while Roston Chase and Leon Johnson are added into the 12-man squad.
Ramdin has been sanctioned for showing displeasure over his non-selection by the Windies Cricket Board. Shane Dowrich will take care of the glovework in Ramdin’s absence.
Meanwhile, Taylor announced his retirement soon after Windies Board named the Test squad. He, however, will remain available to play in the shorter formats for the Windies team.
Senior players like Chris Gayle, Darren Sammy, Dwayne Bravo and Sunil Narine are once again overlooked. Marlon Samuels, Kraigg Brathwaite and Darren Bravo are in the squad for the team squad.
Kemar Roach, who is not named in the Test squad, has been added into the West Indies Cricket Board President’s XI squad. The second practice match will start from July 14 at the Warner Park.
West Indies Test Squad: Jason Holder (c), Kraigg Brathwaite (vc), Devendra Bishoo, Jermaine Blackwood, Carlos Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Rajendra Chandrika, Roston Chase, Shane Dowrich (wk), Shannon Gabriel, Leon Johnson and Marlon Samuels.
