India have made a solid start with KL Rahul and Parthiv Patel in reply to England’s first innings total. The hosts were 60/0, with KL Rahul (30 not out) and Parthiv Patel (28 not out) in the middle at stumps on Day 2.
Earlier, England posted 477 runs on the board. Moeen Ali struck the century, while Joe Root, Adil Rashid and Liam Dawson scored fifties. The Indians are still 417 runs behind the total set the visitors in their first innings.

“It’s a tough challenge, to win the game, we have to take 20 wickets,” Moeen Ali said. “Hopefully we’ve got three days to do that. I just tried to bowl a bit differently, not to bowl the same ball at a time. Mix it up with lengths.”
Parthiv opened the innings with Rahul. He replaced Murali Vijay after the later got injured. Vijay hurt his shoulder while fielding. The opener, however, can bat at any time, should he recover from the injury.
