Cricket Australia XI vs India: Team India to play two-day practice match ahead of first Test

India will bring their preparations for the forthcoming four-match Test series against Australia back on track with a two-day practice match against Cricket Australia Invitational XI at Glenelg, starting December 4.

Team India played the first practice match on the same venue on November 24 and November 25, but the second match was cancelled following Phil Hughes’ tragic demise. The tragedy also forced Cricket Australia to reschedule the Test series, which will now start from November 9.

It would be a good chance for the visitors to get back into the grove ahead of the Adelaide Test. Western Australia all-rounder Ashton Turner is likely to lead the Australian team, with much of the squad that played the opening practice match against Indians.

Meanwhile, regular skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who was ruled out of the Brisbane Test owing to a thumb injury, is expected to join the squad before the Adelaide Test. However, it is uncertain that he will play the series opener or not.

Kohli, however, will lead the team in the final practice match against Cricket Australia XI, as Dhoni is unlikely to feature in the game.
