Bhuvneshwar Kumar Makes Comeback With Pristine Spell

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has often been described as someone with a plenty of talent who can move the ball in both directions with utmost ease.

Side by side, it was widely believed that he was most effective swing bowler only with a new ball and his lack of pace was a big worry during the slog overs.

Fortunately, Bhuvneshwar didn’t pay much attention to his critic’s voice and kept working on his shortcomings.

There was a time when the emergence Ashish Nehra and Jasprit Bumrah saw Bhuvneshwar even getting dropped from the Asia Cup team.

Even that didn’t affect his will-power and he was duly rewarded when the selectors considered his name as a replacement for an injured Mohammad Shami.

And while playing his first match of the competition against UAE on Thursday, he showed the world he is made up of sterner stuff.

Bhuvneshwar bowled with a consistent pace and swung the ball equally well. Knowing what he could possible bring to the table, his captain MS Dhoni even gave him the new ball.

In reality, it was a treat to watch the way he ran in, used his shoulder with a top-arm action and released the ball with an upright seam position.

In some occasions, he was unplayable and conceded only eight runs from his four over spell with two maiden overs. In the process, he also picked up two wickets to his credit.

In the end, it was a good sign to see the way India’s bench strength is shaped. Bhuvneshwar played this match in place of in-form Nehra who is being rested ahead of the big Asia Cup final against Bangladesh on Sunday.

But after this outstanding comeback, the Indian team management would be a relieved that Bhuvneshwar is in great rhythm and he is also a great option for the Big Final.
