For all this while, India’s Test captain is compared with Sachin Tendulkar. The pundits often talked about how the Delhi cricketer’s batting style resembles that of the little master.
But at home of Tendulkar’s Mumbai, Virat Kohli did a VVS Laxman. Like the way Laxman used to do very often by inspiring the lower-middle order batsman to come good with the bat and build partnerships.
Kohli did the same. He, along with Jayant Yadav, India decimated the England bowling and almost toyed with the likes of James Anderson. After the hosts lost Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja within a short span.
But, Jayant Yadav proved his mettle once again with the bat. Besides a great team efforts, it was Kohli’s application on the field along with Jayant that stamped complete authority over England.
It was this attitude of India’s Test captain that helped him team to dominate most of the sessions in this Test series. If England had this great intention of batting India out of the match.
The likes of Kohli had greater intend. Yes, playing at home gave an extra edge to the Indians, still they had to go out there and prove their worth, which Kohli and Co. could do with utmost ease.
India is on a brink of winning the 4th Test. Kudos to the Indian bowlers for masterminding another England batting collapse. It added some excitement to the game, making it clear that a convincing series win is at the threshold.
