A video clip showing the Indian captain Virat Kohli allegedly tampering with the ball went viral on social media. The Indian captain haven’t received any warning from the ICC. The match officials has also not escalated the matter.
Kohli, meanwhile, has brushed aside any ball tampering allegations in his pre-match press conference in Mohali. The Indian captain said that it is an attempt to take the focus away from the cricket field.
“It’s an attempt by some people to take the focus away from the game to be honest,” Kohli said in his pre-match press conference. “It happened in the Hobart Test between Australia and South Africa.”

“It didn’t come up in Rajkot. No mention of it till (India’s) Vizag victory,” the Indian captain added.
Kohli pointed out that if he had violated any rule, the International Council would have had a talk with him. He further added he don’t want to react on newspaper reports.
“Newspaper articles don’t matter over ICC,” the Indian Test captain pointed out. “I don’t read newspapers and was told about it later. If I was doing something, ICC would have spoken to me.”
