Wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel makes his return to the Indian team after a long gap. His comeback is nothing short of an emotional journey. The southpaw will play his first game after a long period of four years.
Patel said that he wanted to play for India one more time. And, his desire to play kept him going during this time.
“I had that self-belief that I can contribute at the international level,” Patel said, after his selection. “There was motivation and a burning desire to play for India at least once more.”

“That feeling motivated me to work harder because there is always a pride and honour of representing India, which I was looking for again. I love this sport, I love going to the ground early and going through my routines.”
“Selection pressure was never there, but motivation was always present,” he concluded.
Patel will replace regular wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha for the Mohali Test. Saha has sustained a thigh injury, but will rejoin the team for the remaining two games of the series.
