Parthiv Patel Replaces Injured Wriddhiman Saha for Mohali Test

Parthiv Patel will make a comeback into the Indian team, four years after playing his last international match. He will take wicketkeeping duties from Wriddhiman Saha, who has sustained a thigh injury.

The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) in a statement informed that Parthiv will replace Saha in Mohali. Saha will not play the Mohali Test to avoid aggregating the left thigh injury. The Tests starts November 26.

Parthiv last played for India in 2012 against Australia. His last appearance in Test cricket was also against Australia in 2008. Since then, the southpaw is fighting for a place in the senior squad.

This Ranji Trophy season, the southpaw has scored 415 runs at an average of 59.28. He has three fifties and a brisk hundred, which came in the last round of games, to his name this season.

Parthiv is picked ahead of Naman Ojha and Dinesh Karthik. According to media reports, he was considered going by his form with the bat and better glovework, compared to Ojha and Karthik.
