MS Dhoni Disappointed

The way Indians scripted the chase was nothing less than a masterclass. They, however, fell short by a slender margin at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium. Captain MS Dhoni, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma shaped the Indian chase, but at the end they found themselves one run short of the target in Miami, Florida.

India clicked as a batting unit when it was needed, and eventually it comes down to Dhoni to finish the game. The Indian captain was playing his trademark innings, when Dwayne Bravo produced a stunning last over.

With just 8 runs needed off the last over, and two set batsmen in the middle, India were clear favorites. Bravo, however, had other plans. He dismissed Dhoni on the final ball to stun everyone.

“It was an amazing game. We couldn’t have expected more from the batting unit,” Dhoni said. “The last ball, the thinking was right but the execution was wrong. Everything is judged by execution. We did most things right.”

MS Dhoni also praised the entire batting unit, along with KL Rahul, who scored his maiden T20I hundred.

“Whenever there was a partnership, we kept the asking rate at just 12,” Dhoni pointed out. “I felt Rahul was outstanding throughout. The others too were superb because it’s not always easy to chase down 250.”

“A win would have been perfect, but there were so many things we did right today,” the gutted Indian captain said.
