KL Rahul is a fresh headache for Team India by scoring yet another century. He has added to the age-old problem of selecting an in-form player over experienced.
As expected, Rahul was simply outstanding with his approach. More importantly, he is looking good as a players with every match he plays.
No wonder even captain Virat Kohli reportedly wanted him to play the 1st Test match against the West Indies ahead of a few other seniors in the team, who may not be in the best of form.
Will Cheteshwar Pujara make way for in-form Rahul? Will opener Shikhar Dhawan be asked to take rest? Before the Indian team addresses these problems and work out a possible solution for the third Test match.
It must be told that this is “a very happy” problem in the team provided Murali Vijay is fit to play again. India are actually taking a lot of pride that there is so much competition amongst the teammates.
Ask Kohli or any other captain of a team and he will tell you how important it is to have a good bench strength.
MS Dhoni right pointed out in the Bangalore camp that not everyone would get to play in the West Indies and not everyone would be successful, but the main thing is to enjoy and contribute to team’s success.
Today if KL Rahul is playing well, a senior could be dropped. It doesn’t mean a bad thing for a team. It means more competition. But, it also means India are doing well as a team in Test cricket!
