Ajinkya Rahane Slams Yet Another Overseas Hundred

Ajinkya Rahane slammed his fifth overseas hundred to cement himself as India’s batting mainstay away from home. Rahane’s hundred ensured that India build a massive lead over West Indies at the Sabina Park.

The stylish right-hander had earlier scored hundreds in New Zealand, England, Australia and Sri Lanka.

Rahane’s hundred was overdue after he missed out in Antigua. On a pitch, where Ravichandran Ashwin scored a ton, and Amit Mishra made a fifty, Rahane could manage just 22, against an mediocre Windies attack.

“I was disappointed with the way I got out in the first Test,” Ajinkya Rahane said. “But, whether we play in India or abroad, what’s important for me is my process and preparations.

“I never think about scoring hundreds,” he added. “The results will follow as long as I prepare well and my processes are right. I think about the small things that are helpful to me.”

“At the same time scoring a hundred here is special, getting to the three-figure mark is really special for a batsman.”

Rahane was helped by some sloppy Windies fielding too. In the first session, Rajendra Chandrika dropped a simple catch at point off Devendra Bishoo. He then went on to take India to a mammoth total in the first innings.
