KL Rahul is having an incredible season. He had a solid IPL season with Royal Challengers Bangalore. The opener then went on to score heavily in Zimbabwe. And, also broke a few records on his debut ODI.
Rahul said that the young Indian team learnt a lot from MS Dhoni in Zimbabwe. The Karnataka-born said the whole team got a lot of feedback from Dhoni, who was the only senior player in the Zimbabwe tour.
“To have him lead the side and to go and interact with him and to see how he carried himself. What he expected out of us and how he wanted us to perform in different situations was a great learning for all of us and I think all the boys benefited from him,” Rahul said in an interview.
“He gave us lot of feedback about what we can expect from international cricket and what is expected of us,” the Indian opener said. “We enjoyed the couple of weeks in Zimbabwe with him and with everybody else.”
Rahul is currently training with the Indian Test squad in Bangalore. The opener will be fighting for a place in the playing XI, alongside fellow openers Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay.
The Indian team is set to face West Indies in four Test matches. The opening match will take place on July 21 in Antigua. Prior to the Test matches, India will be playing a couple of practice matches as well.
