Well done India! This is perhaps after a long time that the Indian Cricket Team had to fight all day long in five Tests to secure a convincing series win over England. It’s a happy situation in every nook and corner.

Even the official broadcaster of the series, who are finding tough to sustain at the time of demonetization, would be quite happy with the way the India-England series has gone.

From the opening Test match in Rajkot to the last game in Chennai, there were excitement, disappointment, thrill and display of great cricketing skills.

It was a combination of all the elements that took kept the interest level of the fans intact. Barring the Mohali Test, the rest of four Tests ended after five days of arduous cricket.

When India’s Test captain Virat Kohli said in Mumbai after making it 3-0 that this series win would be one of the sweetest in recent days, he also meant the hard work his teammates had to do in the middle to achieve this series win.

This series win is also made possible due to great contribution from top of bottom. Besides Gautam Gambhir, who had to vacate his opening slot of KL Rahul and leg-spinner Amit Mishra making way for Jayant Yadav.

Interestingly, none of the cricketers in the playing XI was dropped due to non-performance. Even opener Murali Vijay, who wasn’t scoring heavily, had a hundred in the series.

Perhaps, the only surprising bit was Ajinkya Rahane not getting runs. Otherwise, the India batting line-up is right now extremely potent.
In the bowling front, no word would be enough to describe the greatness of the Indian spinners. They were able to play huge roles in taking those twenty wickets of the England team. Even the pace bowling department was handy. Even Ishant Sharma had to wait for four Tests before getting a break in the Chennai game.

With such intense competition, India would be aiming to keep their consistency level intact. When the Australia are here to play a Test series against India next year. So right now, let’s all celebrate India’a win over England. And, reflect on how the performing assets (players) have made us proud.
