The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the ODI and Test teams of year. Virat Kohli is named captain of the ODI side, while Alastair Cook is named the skipper of the 12-member Test team.
Apart from Kohli, allrounder Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma are also part of the ODI team. Interestingly, no player from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and New Zealand have managed to make the cut.
ICC ODI Team of the Year 2016 (in batting order): 1. David Warner (Australia), 2. Quinton de Kock (South Africa, wk), 3. Rohit Sharma (India) 4. Virat Kohli (India, Cap), 5. AB de Villiers (South Africa), 6. Jos Buttler (England), 7. Mitchell Marsh (Australia), 8. Ravindra Jadeja (India), 9. Mitchell Starc (Australia), 10. Kagiso Rabada (South Africa), 11. Sunil Narine (West Indies) and 12. Imran Tahir (South Africa).
Meanwhile, Cook will lead the Test team, but Kohli has failed to make the cut. There is only one Indian in the list. Ravichandran Ashwin has made it into the ICC’s Test team.
