Alzarri Joseph

The West Indies have announced their squad for the 2nd Test against India. Uncapped pacer Alzarri Joseph has been added to the 13-member squad for the next game to be played in Jamaica.

Joseph is one of the most promising youngsters in the Windies setup. He was the third-highest wickettaker in the Under-19 World Cup. The lanky pacer has played just eight first-class matches, and has 24 wickets to his name.

“We feel that Alzarri will now benefit from the professional guidance of our coaching staff and the presence of fast bowling legend Joel Garner as manager,” Courtney Browne, chairman of the West Indies selection panel, said.

The hosts, meanwhile, have opted not to make any more changes in the squad. Jason Holder will lead the squad, featuring Marlon Samuels, Shannon Gabriel, Kraigg Brathwaite and Carlos Brathwaite.

The West Indies are currently trailing the four-match Test series. Virat Kohli’s men hammered them by an innings in the series opener. The 2nd Test is starting on Saturday at the Sabina Park, Kingston.

West Indies Squad for 2nd Test: Jason Holder (c), Kraigg Brathwaite, Rajendra Chandrika, Darren Bravo, Marlon Samuels, Jermaine Blackwood, Roston Chase, Shane Dowrich (wk), Carlos Brathwaite, Devendra Bishoo, Shannon Gabriel, Leon Johnson, Miguel Cummins and Alzarri Joseph.
