England captain Alastair Cook has admitted his side wasn’t good enough to match India in the Mumbai Test. The visitors faced a thumping defeat by an innings in the 4th Test, and also lost the five-match Test series.
“In the second innings we had our chances,” Cook said. “We aren’t taking those chances at the moment. Virat played an extraordinary innings but we had a chance on 60-odd to get him. Those are things that the game changes on.”
“We’re in it for 3 days but not good enough to stay in it,” he added. “We haven’t been good enough to match India.”

The English skipper also pointed out the chances his side missed in the 4th Test. Cook insisted that his side would have challenged India, had they dismissed their talisman Virat Kohli cheaply in the game.
“I go back to the chances we missed, we could have bowled India out for 400,” Cook pointed out. “Virat is in incredible form, having one of the series you dream of. Clearly one of the great batsmen of our generation.”
