It is not possible to fulfil MS Dhoni’s absence, especially if you are playing in Ranchi, but Virat Kohli did his best to please the fans present at the JCA Stadium by signing off with the helicopter shot.
India needed just eight runs to complete the cleansweep, with Ajantha Mendis, who had already taken four wickets in the match, to bowl the penultimate over of the match.
Kohli was at his dazzling best at that time and he couldn’t have done anything wrong at that point of the match. The Indian skipper decided to do MS Dhoni and dispatched the ball into the stands, with none other than the helicopter shot.
“I played the helicopter and it came off well, playing in MS’ hometown, it worked well,” Kohli said. “You saw the character and composure of some young guys in the series. Rohit’s knock was legendary and it won’t be bettered soon.”
The ball fell in Kohli’s zone and it was too good an opportunity to miss for the stylish-hander, as he latched onto it by sending the ball ballistic over long-on.
