If India wouldn’t have earned a win against Pakistan in Adelaide on Sunday, ‘frustration’ could have sneaked into the team due to the format of the tournament.

As team India plays its next match against South Africa next Sunday, team director Ravi Shastri said that the wait after a loss against Pakistan would have hurt MS Dhoni’s men more than anything else.

“A loss in a big match like the one against Pakistan would have hurt our team massively,” Shastri said. “I told the players that the format of the tournament is such that you have to win this match to keep away from frustration because the wait is longer.”

The former Indian cricketer was also happy that India could produce such a performance in such a big match and that “this calls for a celebration”.
