Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has insisted that the Indian Cricket Team needs MS Dhoni to continue playing till the next World Cup in England.
Dhoni has been in superb form of late with the bat, and essaying the role of a finisher pretty well for Rising Pune Supergiants in the IPL.
Ganguly insisted that the India limited-overs captain should continue representing the country in colours, as he is required to play limited-overs cricket.
“Dhoni has been fantastic in the way he has gone about his job as captain, but does he have the ability in next four years to see India into the World in 2019,” Ganguly said.
“I am not saying he needs to quit cricket, I feel he should continue to play in the shorter formats of the game,” he added. “India still need him in limited-overs cricket.”
MS Dhoni recently led the Indian Cricket Team to the semifinal of the World T20, where they were knocked out by the eventual champions West Indies.
The Supergiants, meanwhile, are reeling in the IPL points’ table with just three wins in ten matches they have played so far in the tournament.
