Ravindra Jadeja, the left-arm spinner, once again proved his worth as one of the leading spinners in the country. While playing the final match of the Duleep Trophy for India Blue in Greater Noida, he claimed five wickets to his credit and practically ran through the India Red’s middle order batting in grand style.

It wasn’t just another good performance by a spinner on a turning track. To get those five wickets, Jadeja bowled his heart out, almost like a machine. He kept bowling at a good pace and turning the ball on a pitch devoid of grass. The slowness of the track was the main reason why Amit Mishra wasn’t as effective as Jadeja.

Jadeja also bowled to his strength by bowling on one side of the wicket and kept rushing through his overs.

In total he bowled 34 overs and conceded only 95 runs to take his 21st five-wicket haul in first-class cricket. The most inspiring bit about his bowling is that he can deliver long spells without showing any sign of tiredness.

Jadeja’s superlative show in the Duleep final will also boost his confidence immensely in the Test series against the touring New Zealand team.

This performance has also enhance his reputation in the team. So much so that he could be easily the second most effective spinner after R Ashwin.

If the team management would pick two spinners, which is quite unlikely in the opening Test match in Kanpur, Jadeja’s name would surely figure in playing XI. In other words, Jadeja should be one of the key performers for India in the days to come.
