MS Dhoni

Sourav Ganguly has termed India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni as a go to man and insisted that a lot will depend on his form in the World Cup, starting February 14 in Australia and New Zealand.

MS Dhoni led India to title triumph in the 2011 World Cup and now everyone is expecting him to defend the title Down Under. India will play their first match against archrivals Pakistan on February 15 at the Adelaide Oval.

“I expect them to rise to the occasion,” Ganguly insisted. “A lot will depend on captain Dhoni. His form with the bat and his leadership will be the key for India. The team needs Dhoni to have a very good World Cup.”

Ganguly, who steered India to 2003 World Cup final in South Africa, pointed out that Dhoni shouldn’t bat higher in the order, but it will also depend on the situation of the match.

“If Virat Kohli bats at No. 4, it makes no sense for Dhoni to bat at No. 5,” the former skipper pointed out. “It also will depend on match situations, I guess. The batting order, more or less, looks settled.”
