India have had successful skippers like Kapil Dev, Mohammed Azharuddin and Sourav Ganguly, to name a few, but the way Captain Cool MS Dhoni has inspired youngsters a few have managed to do that.
The humble image MS Dhoni has maintained both on and off the field has not only made him a popular figure inside the Team India dressing room, but also an inspirational figure outside.
India ‘A’ skipper Unmukt Chand is one such cricketer, who is not only inspired by the captaincy skills of MS Dhoni, but also by his humble nature both inside and outside the field.
The former India under-19 skipper, Chand said he likes captaincy prowess of MS Dhoni, the way he marshals his troops without succumbing under pressure in crunch situations.
“Never thought along those lines much, but of course I like MS Dhoni’s captaincy – the way he is always cool under pressure,” Unmukt Chand said. “I have not played with him but watched him on TV.”
Unmukt Chand called MS Dhoni a special captain, who always leads from the front, and takes responsibility if the team is not performing.
“The way he always takes responsibility,” Unmukt Chand insisted. “If the team doesn’t do well he takes the blame on himself and when it does well he is not shy of giving credit to the team. All these things make him really special.”
