Michael Hussey picks England as dark horse in the World Cup

England have made quite a few chances to their limited-overs side, with no Kevin Pietersen and Alastair Cook no longer the skipper of the team. Eoin Morgan is the new captain and will lead the side into the World Cup and forthcoming tri-series.

There are not many people thinking that England will challenge for the title but former Australia player Michael Hussey is. Traditionally, England was never a limited-overs side and have failed to win the title in previous ten attempts.

Hussey has termed England a dark horse in the World Cup, starting February 14, and added that the Morgan-led side is more than capable of causing an upset in the World Cup.

“South Africa have a really good team,” Hussey said. “They played a series out here earlier on in the summer and they would have learned a lot from that. England are a dark horse in this World Cup. They’ll fly under the radar a little bit, (but) no one’s really giving them a lot of chance.”

“They’ve got some really experienced, quality players but they’ve also got some really good underrated players, guys like Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes, very underrated and if they can just get their confidence up and move through the tournament, they can be a bit of a dark horse.”

England will open their campaign against the co-host Australia on February 14 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
