England cricket team is on a brink of registering a crushing win over Australia in the 3rd Ashes Test at Edgbaston, but it’s not rosy for them as they might miss out on the services of James Anderson in the remainder of this Ashes series.

Anderson suffered a side injury, which appeared to be a side strain, on Day 2 of the 3rd Ashes Test and didn’t come on to bowl after leaving the field.

It would be a big blow for England, if James Anderson would be forced to sit out, seeing the kind of form he is in. Anderson rattled Australia with a fifer in the first innings, and dismissed dangerous David Warner in the second.

England were not much affected by Anderson’s absence in the second innings, as Steven Finn’s fifer ensured the hosts a certain victory in the 3rd Ashes Test. But, the Three Lions would be missing Anderson in the remaining matches of the series.

If it found to be a side strain, James Anderson would have to miss the remaining two matches of the Ashes series. England have not confirmed, if it is a side injury, saying they are assessing the injury.

England Cricket Tweeted: “@jimmy9 has a tight side. He will be assessed overnight and in the morning #getwellsoon #ashes”

Pacer Chris Jordan suffered a similar injury a while ago, and he is yet to return to competitive action since then.

James Anderson, meanwhile, didn’t look too well while going off the field and was seen throwing jumper over his face, suggesting he knew the seriousness of the injury.

“If it’s an intercostal, we won’t see him again in this series,” former England all-rounder Sir Ian Botham said. “You can’t sneeze, can’t cough, can’t laugh. You have to let it heal.”
