It was quite unexpected at the start, but South Africa managed to pull off a superb performance against Team India in the T20s to clinch the series 2-0, with the final game at the Eden Gardens being washed out.

Team India vice-captain Virat Kohli was naturally disappointed with his team’s hammering in the first two T20s in Dharamsala and Cuttack, and insisted that lack of match practice in the shortest format of the game hurt the team.

“As a team it hurts you because you are playing at home,” Virat Kohli said. “We are more used to the conditions than South Africa are. But we have not played too many T20 games since the World Cup last year.”

“We have a lot of T20 games now, going forward into the World T20,” he added. “The key is to not be too hard on ourselves, and we just need to learn from these games. It is actually a blessing in disguise working out our combination before the big event.”
