Gayle likely to play Test series against India

Destructive West Indies opener Chris Gayle is likely to play in the three-match Test series against India, starting October 30 in Hyderabad.

Gayle is ruled out of the limited-overs series against Team India as he is still nursing a lower-back injury, due to which he also missed the final Test against Bangladesh at home.

The southpaw, while talking to the Jamaica Gleaner, insisted that he is recovering quite well from the back trouble and is expected to make return in the national team for the Tests.

“My recovery has been coming on nicely, and I expect to be fully fit and ready in time for the Test series,” Gayle told the Jamaica Gleaner. “The injury is the same one that has been affecting my back in recent times, but so far it has been coming on well.

“I have been able to give it some rest and as each day progresses, it keeps getting better and better,” he added.

The inclusion of big Jamaican will certainly bolster the Caribbean team in the forthcoming series, as he has scored three fifties in home series this summer. He, however, has not played competitive cricket since first Test against Bangladesh.
