South Africa might have lost the game against West Indies, but they didn’t surrender easily and remained in the content till the very last over of the match.

One ball here and there, and it could have been altogether a different result for the Proteas, but the West Indies managed to cling on and walked away with two points.

South Africa ripped through West Indies middle-order while defending a small total, but at the end they were 10-15 runs short of what could have been a winning score.

The Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis hailed his team’s fighting spirit against the Windies, while also adding that the Maroon-brigade was just a touch better than them.

“It felt like the whole game we were half a step behind West Indies and we were trying to catch up the whole time,” du Plessis said. “10 runs maybe more from the batters – 135 deck.”

“But a great fight by the boys,” he pointed out. “This game makes us all very old, very quickly! West Indies were just a little bit better than us today. It was a little bit frantic that first six overs.”

South Africa, after put into bat, posted 123 runs on the board, courtesy fighting knocks from Quinton de Kock and allrounder David Weise.

West Indies, despite some hiccups, managed to chase down the total with two balls to spare, and three wickets in hand.
