He may have left the international arena way back in 2008 in haste. But former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is taking huge strides towards becoming one of the leading sports’ administrators in the country.
People in the know told Drcricket7 that from the time Ganguly has taken over as the secretary of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), things have started to look a little brighter for cricketers in the state.
Sources said that Ganguly is probably the most hands-on cricket administrator one has seen in Bengal cricket. He takes interest at every level, and ensures the best of everything to cricketers in the state.
“He is even aware of what the junior selectors are dong. He is managing everything very well here,” the source added.
Even the way he is distributing his time between TV shows, commentary for Star TV and his job as an administrator, is something really commendable. And the best part of his role in CAB is that he is extremely prompt and doesn’t waste time to take decisions.
Ganguly was elected the joint-secretary of the CAB last year in July, and now it’s widely believed that if anyone can take over the reins of CAB after Jagmohan Dalmiya, it is Ganguly.
The fact that Ganguly is Dalmiya’s deputy in the CAB is the choice of the Dalmiya faction. “Both share a good rapport and it was Dalmiya’s idea to get him where he is today in CAB,” the source revealed.
