Ajinkya Rahane is happy to have Anil Kumble as Team India’s new coach. Rahane said that he is looking forward to work with Kumble, and added that the former captain will take Indian cricket forward.
“This will be my first experience with Anil bhai,” Rahane said. “When I was with Mumbai Indians, he was not there (with MI), he came after the third year. A player like him becoming India’s coach is a big and a good news for Indian cricket going forward.”
“He has so much of experience,” Rahane added. “He has played international cricket for so many years, definitely his tips. His importance will take Indian cricket forward.”
Kumble became the Indian coach for a period of one year. The former Indian captain was selected ahead of candidates like Ravi Shastri, Sandeep Patil and Stuart Law, to name a few.
Indian team is set to play a four-match Test series against West Indies in the Caribbean. It will be Kumble’s first assignment with Team India and all eyes will be on his performance as a coach.
Ajinkya Rahane will be going as a vice-captain of the Indian team in the Caribbean Test series. The series is starting from July 21 prior to which India will be playing a couple of practice matches.
