The history of Indian cricket is quite rich, from winning the World Cup in 1983 to achieving the top spot in both Tests and ODIs, backed by some iconic performances. It is not easy to describe the whole history of Indian cricket in words, but there are pictures to show some of the best moments of the game.

1.) India winning the World Cup in 1983 under the leadership of Kapil Dev was a turning point for the game in the country. This World Cup win made cricket a household sport, so much so that it inspired many generations to take the game as a profession.
2.) This was arguably the most iconic moment in the history of Indian cricket, when Anil Kumble managed to rip through the entire Pakistan batting line-up at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. Kumble became only the second bowler after Jim Laker to claim 10 wickets in a Test innings.
3.) Anil Kumble, also known as a fighter, was known for his never-say-never attitude, and he proved it against West Indies when he bowled with a broken jaw in Antigua Test. He not only bowled, but also managed to take the wicket of Windies legend Brian Lara.
4.) Winning the NatWest Trophy against England in 2002 was another high in the history of Indian cricket. Led by Sourav Ganguly, India, against the run of play, managed to beat England, with Mohammed Kaif and Yuvraj Singh taking the initiative with a record seventh wicket stand.
5.) After a gap of almost 20 years India managed to reach the World Cup final under the leadership of Sourav Ganguly. The team, however, fell short in the final, but they were only beaten by Australia, the eventual champions, in the whole tournament.
6.) Finally the moment arrived when India managed to clinch the World Cup, when a young team led by MS Dhoni defeated Pakistan in the final. The rest as they say, is history….
7.) If winning the World T20 wasn’t enough for MS Dhoni, he took India to the World Cup win that too at home. The Indian captain finished the game with a six and brought smiles on billion faces, who were waiting for the glorious event to happen.
8.) The master blaster, Sachin Tendulkar completed his 100 centuries in international cricket, showing how long and well he has served his country, and carried the load of expectations.
9.) This was probably the only feather missing from MS Dhoni’s hat – winning the Champions Trophy. And, the Captain Cool achieved it by beating England in the final. MS Dhoni also become the only skipper to win World T20, World Cup and Champions Trophy.
