After days of off-field issues, and political turmoil, Pakistan Cricket Team has left for India to participate in the World T20 2016, starting March 15.

The 15-member Pakistan squad will be reaching Kolkata later this evening via Abu Dhabi. The Pakistan Cricket Board has got the green signal from the government to participate in the marquee event.

Pakistan coach Waqar Younis said the team is focusing on performing well on the field, and the players are aiming for the title in the tournament.

“We know that in India we will get a lot of hospitality because many of the players and officials have been to India before and they have seen this,” Waqar said.

The former champions are set to face archrivals India on March 19 at the Eden Gardens. Waqar, however, didn’t stress too much on the match against the hosts.

Waqar said right now his team is not focusing on the match against India, as they have to go past Bangladesh in their opening match of the tournament.

“We will take one match at a time and we are not thinking right now about the match against India on March 19,” Waqar insisted.

“First we have to play Bangladesh and get past them,” he added. “They are a very improved side now and have been hard to beat at home.”
