South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis has termed Indian Cricket Team favorites to win the World T20 2016, without ruling out his side’s chances of challenging for the title.
Team India is currently on a rampage, as it has lost just once this year in the T20Is, while also thrashing West Indies in the first practice match.
Du Plessis, meanwhile, called this year’s tournament “the most open event”, adding that smaller teams are also more than capable of throwing a surprise.
“This is probably the most open event. I do think that India will still be favourites, but, just the way that we are playing, it’s going to be a real open pool in both groups.”
“We have seen that countless times that there are no more minnows, as you used to call them,” du Plessis said. “So, it’s going to be very exciting.”
South Africa are set to face the hosts India in their first practice match today at the Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. On 15th they will be playing their second practice match.
