The two-month long South Africa tour to India would commence with a T20 practice match in Delhi, between the Proteas and India A. It would serve as an ideal preparation for the visitors before the start of a three-match T20I series.
Led by Mandeep Singh, India A doesn’t boost of any big names, still they are more than capable of troubling South Africa, seeing it is just a 20-over game, and the Proteas are heading without any match practice.
Despite not having any regular India player and big names in the side, India A would be going into the match confidently. Players like Mandeep, Manish Pandey, Rishi Dhawan and Anureet Singh are good T20 players, and have showed promising performances in the Indian Premier League.
“It is a good combination. Everyone has done well in the Indian Premier League, whether it is spinners or medium-pacers or batsmen,” Mandeep Singh said. “I think it is a good compact side. Rest, we will work out depending on the conditions and the wicket.”
Meanwhile, South Africa would be hoping for some good match practice before taking on the full-strength India team in Dharamsala in the first of the three T20s.
“South Africa is one of the best teams in the world,” Mandeep Singh said. “Other than that as long as we play our game in the right manner and play to our strengths then definitely we will able to compete well against South Africa as well.”
