On this day some nine years ago, Mahendra Singh Dhoni rewrote the record books when he made an unbeaten 183 against Sri Lanka at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. That unbeaten century in the third one-dayer was the highest score by a wicketkeeper in the ODIs.
Dhoni’s onslaught was the difference-maker between the two sides that day as Team India managed to register a thumping six-wicket win over the Islanders. He finished with a 145-ball 183, featuring 15 fours and 10 mighty sixes.
The scorcher from MSD came against the likes of Chaminda Vaas, Farveez Maharoof and Muttiah Muralitharan, and that innings also overshadowed the century made by Kumar Sangakkara in the first innings to set a competitive 299-run target for the men in blue.
